Component Testing

Controlled interference

Component testing uses RF and microwave signals to evaluate the performance of individual components such as filters, duplexers, attenuators, and cables. Amplifiers generate controlled interference or test signals to characterise component behaviour under defined conditions.

Key parameters assessed include insertion loss, bandwidth, intermodulation distortion (IMD), rejection, gain, and noise figure. These measurements are essential for validating component specifications and ensuring performance in system-level applications.

Testing may involve both linear and nonlinear excitation depending on the component type and intended use.

Amplifiers for Component Testing

Amplifiers used in component testing must provide clean, stable signals with low distortion and accurate power control. AR amplifiers support broadband and frequency-specific applications, enabling precise characterisation across a wide range of conditions.

Systems can be configured with measurement equipment and signal sources to create complete, repeatable test setups.

Typical requirements:

  • 0.5 GHz to 12 GHz
  • CW power up to 1 kW
